Federal InitiativesWhy This Is Important
In reaction to many recent conceptual and political changes, including the Olmstead decision, and the activism of local stakeholders, many states are adopting measures to remold their services and supports systems around the principles of person-centered planning. This department will include products related to state and local community initiatives that are making interesting or significant changes to their service systems based on person-centered principles. These products may include articles or reports about innovations in state or local government planning, regulations, statutes, or other activities that support person-centered practices. Some examples of these initiatives might include efforts to decrease waiting lists, mandates to develop individually tailored services, or programs that support and/or develop self-advocacy.
