Physical Accessibility

Why This Is Important

Without physical accessibility, a person with a disability has no opportunity for a full community life. The Americans with Disabilities Act has expanded the requirements of public locations to be accessible to people with disabilities. Accommodations must be made for a wide variety of impairments -- mobility, vision, and hearing among them. In this department you will find information, resources, and examples of improving physical accessibility. This accessibility is not limited to community access but will include products and programs that may assist people with disabilities in attaining greater independence in their homes as well as their communities.
