Americans with Disabilities Act Information

Why This Is Important

The Americans with Disabilities Act, which was passed in 1991, has dramatically altered what is possible for persons with disabilities in the United States. Rights to employment, accommodation at public places, and transportation have been clarified. Court cases have served to define, and continue to define, both the possibilities and the limitations of what employers and public places are required to do. In this department you will find information about rights, clarification of responsibilities, and materials concerning the implementation of this most important law.
