Provides information about national organizations and political and governement officials who can respond to problems, requests, and suggestions regarding services and government programs for persons with developmental disabilities. Many of these organizations are associations of state organizations that have information about what is happening in each state or can provide assistance to state residents.

A federal agency that promotes person-centered services and supports for people with developmental disabilities. It works with and supports state agencies like developmental disabilities councils.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is recognized as the lead federal agency for protecting the health and safety of people.
Disability Law Colorado
An organization that protects and promotes the rights of people with disabilities in Colorado. It is Colorado's P&A organization.
Disability Rights California
An organization in California that advocates for people with disabilities. They seek to help Californians with disabilities move from institutions to the community.
Disability Rights Ohio
An organization that protects and advocates for the rights of people with disabilities in the state of Ohio.
Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
A government commission supporting people's employment rights.
Minnesota State Council on Disability
The Minnesota State Council on Disability is an organization that advocates on behalf of people with disabilities. They also advocate to the state legislature for this group as a whole.
National Association of Developmental Disabilities Councils
An association representing the 54 State and Territorial Councils on Developmental Disabilities.
National Association of State Directors of Developmental Disabilities
Association of state developmental disabilities agencies
National Council on Disability
This independent federal agency makes recommendations to the President and Congress on issues affecting Americans with disabilities.
National Disability Rights Network
The National Disability Rights Network (NDRN) is the nonprofit membership organization for the federally mandated Protection and Advocacy (P&A) Systems and Client Assistance Programs (CAP) for individuals with disabilities.
National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR)
This federal agency funds comprehensive and coordinated programs of research and related activities with an aim to help people with disabilities participate in the activities of their choice.
New York State Developmental Disabilities Planning Council (DDPC)
The DD Council for New York state seeks to improve the lives of people with disabilities in the areas of community involvement, employment, recreation and housing.
Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP)
This office provides national leadership to increase employment opportunities for adults and youth with disabilities while striving to eliminate barriers to employment.
Oregon Council on Developmental Disabilities
A council that seeks to increase the independence, productivity, integration and inclusion of people with developmental disabilities in Oregon. It has some unique publications.
